HEBRON, KY (FOX19) - A Hebron firefighter was hurt at a fire station and hospitalized Sunday night, according to fire officials.
The incident occurred at Hebron Fire Station No. 1, 3120 N. Bend Rd., they said in a prepared statement.
"The firefighter had been cleaning yard waste and debris from around the fire station grounds and burning them in a burn barrel," the statement reads. "At some point the firefighter used a flammable liquid to initiate the burning, which caused a flash fire."
The firefighter suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns on 25% of his upper body, according to fire officials.
He was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Florence, and then flown by Air Care to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
He is currently listed in serious but stable condition.
Fire officials asked for prayers and support as the firefighter begins his road to recovery.
His name is not being released at this time.
