Tropical Storm Warning

Tropical storm warning issued for Cindy; Dennis forms

Scattered rain has been falling in southeastern Louisiana today as officials take precautions -- with Tropical Storm Cindy heading toward land.

Meanwhile, another tropical storm has formed in the Caribbean and could hit Florida later in the week. Cindy grew to tropical storm strength early today, with sustained winds of 50 miles-per-hour by 11 a-m, Eastern time.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami says Cindy could strengthen further, but it is not expected to become a hurricane. A tropical storm warning has been issued for the Gulf Coast from Intracoastal City, Louisiana, to the Florida Panhandle town of Destin. Also by late morning, Tropical Storm Dennis had formed with winds of 40 miles-an-hour.

Dennis is centered about 355 miles south of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and is moving west-northwest at about 18 miles-an-hour. It's on track to reach Haiti tomorrow and South Florida on Friday.
