The Cincinnati Reds and St. Vincent de Paul are hoping to “Strike Out Hunger” by hosting a food donation drive this weekend at Great American Ball Park.

The food drive will be Friday and Saturday when the Reds play the Chicago Cubs.

Fans who donate a minimum of three non-perishable food items from the time gates open (90 minutes before first pitch) through the 4th inning will receive a free ticket to an upcoming Reds game, limit one ticket per person.

Donation barrels will be located outside the ballpark’s main entrance on Crosley Terrace near the Pete Rose and Joe Morgan statues.

“Summer is a critical time for struggling families,” said Mike Dunn, Executive Director, St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati. “When schools are out, too many families must choose between buying groceries and paying their rent. This drive helps keep our food pantries stocked so families don’t have to make that choice.”

Last year, St. Vincent de Paul collected 7,250 pounds of food which provided more than 4,800 meals to struggling families in Cincinnati.
