CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Just hours after making his first All-Star game in four years, Joey Votto is the National League Player of the Week.

Major League Baseball made the announcement Monday afternoon in recognition of Votto’s big week – which helped the Reds win back-to-back series against first place Milwaukee and the defending World Champion Chicago Cubs.

In seven games, Votto hit three home runs, three doubles and finished with a .524 batting average for the week.

It’s his fourth career NL Player of the Week award of his career and second Red (Scooter Gennett) to win it this season.

Votto will be making his fifth All-Star Game appearance next week in Miami. The game will be on FOX19 Now Tuesday July 11th.
