Middletown officer in ICU after falling in police parking lot

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) -

A Middletown police officer remains in the intensive care unit at a Dayton hospital Thursday after suffering a head injury Wednesday, the police chief said.

Detective Justin Camper fell in the police parking lot.

He was was taken to Miami Valley Medical Center.

"We are still waiting for him to be coherent to find out what happened. We know he fell in our police parking circle and that’s about it," Chief Rodney Muterspaw wrote in an email to FOX19 NOW Thursday.

Witnesses told police Camper was on top of a wrecker in the parking lot circle.

He was retrieving an item from a vehicle on the wrecker but fell.

"His family asked us to keep visitors away today until he improves, that includes our officers too. They want total rest for him. We are hoping to find out more today," said Muterspaw.
