Ramps to temporarily close on NB I-75

FOX19 -

This week there will be some temporary closures that will affect traffic on northbound Interstate 75.

Starting at 9 p.m. Monday, work crews will be closing two ramps, the ramp to westbound US 50 and to Fifth Street Downtown.

The ramps will be closed for one week, through Tuesday morning, July 24.

You need to be in the right lane for your detour, you cannot switch lanes on the bridge.

The right lane exits off on north I-71, you will use the ramp to Second Street, turn left on Elm, left on Third Street, right on Central Avenue, then right on Fifth Street or continue to left on the 6th Street Viaduct/US 50 west.

If you are in the wrong lane and miss the I-71 exit, continue north on I-75, take the Ezzard Charles exit, turn left on Ezzard Charles, then left on Western Avenue, left on Gest Street then right on Freeman Avenue, back to US 50 west or east back to 6th Street then right on Central to Fifth Street.

Traffic can exit at Fifth Street in Covington, turn left on Main Street, continue north across the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge, left on Mehring Way to Freeman Avenue then back onto US 50 west. This is a good second option depending on the time of day.

The closures will be weather permitting.
