This past month more people in downtown Cincinnati have been taking advantage of the Streetcar thanks to all the summer festivities, but the problems just won't seem to go away.

Several riders have recently had issues with the ticket vending machines.

Stephanie Allen takes the street car with her family a couple times a week. Recently her commute hasn't been as smooth.

"The tickets are slow and sometimes they have the machines down at the stops so people are like how am I supposed to get on the streetcar if I can't buy a ticket," said Allen.

A few times the delay has caused her to miss the streetcar.

"It's really frustrating especially when you have to wait another ten minutes for the next streetcar," she said.

The spokesperson for Metro, Sallie Hilvers said that the ticket vending machines were recently upgraded, but the hot weather can cause periodic problems. Now they are looking into the new complaints.

"I tried the ticket machine the first couple of times and I learned my lesson pretty quickly. I downloaded the app and use that. I have definitely seen people actually miss the streetcar waiting for tickets to come out," said Tamia Stinson, who is a frequent rider.

FOX19 NOW tested out the machine and purchased tickets for a family of three all while a passerby shouted, "good luck!"

It took five minutes to select the tickets and for all of the passes to be printed out.

During peak times with long lines at the kiosk that time adds up.

Metro is urging all customers to use the Cincy EZ Ride App. However, not all riders are happy with that solution.

"They do have an app but a lot of people don't have the app on their phone or don't have internet on their phone or whatever, so that makes it inconvenient. Then if you get on the streetcar you're going to get a ticket if you don't have a ticket," said Allen.

She said more people would probably use the streetcar if the passes processed a little faster, and if they could work out all of their kinks.

Those who use the app regularly said that they have not had any problems with it.
