Man charged in prostitution scheme between Cincinnati and Florida

(Pinellas County) (Pinellas County)

A Cincinnati man pleaded guilty to interstate prostitution charges in federal court after making victims travel between Ohio and Florida.

Gary Moorman, 34, will be sentenced to 20 years in federal prison, the maximum penalty.

Dating back to 2012, Moorman would force victims to travel between Florida, Ohio and elsewhere to engage in sexual acts.

Moorman "systematically and violently abused multiple victims to induce them, against their will, into prostitution for his own financial gain," court documents said.  As a way to advertise the prostitution, prosecutors said Moorman would take and post provocative photos of the victims on the internet.

After the victims provided services, he took all of the proceeds, documents said. According to court documents, one victim met Moorman in Cincinnati in July 2012. At their initial meeting, Moorman told her "he would take care of her" and flashed some money, saying "money was no problem for him," documents said.

Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida W. Stephen Muldrow announced the plea deal Monday.
