A Butler County woman is accused of following an off-duty Cincinnati police officer in his personal vehicle and intentionally ramming her car into his.

Sarah Peterson, 28, of Liberty Township is held at the Hamilton County jail on charges of felonious assault and driving under suspension.

Cincinnati police said District 5 officers were dispatched to assist one of their own in the 100 block of West Mitchell Avenue just before 10 p.m. Monday night.

Peterson repeatedly tried to hit a car driven by District 3 Officer Kyle Strunk as he traveled on northbound Interstate 75, records show.

She "appeared to be visibly upset for unknown reasons," police wrote in a department alert issued Tuesday.

Peterson followed the officer off the highway and onto West Mitchell Avenue, where she finally rammed the back of his car with her red, 2015 Mazda, police wrote in court records.

His vehicle had minor damage.

The incident remains under investigation.

The case goes to a grand jury for possible indictment Aug.10.
