ANDERSON TWP, OH (FOX19) -

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office has stepped up patrols in Anderson Township to track down a man they believe is responsible for several thefts from cars in the area.

Surveillance video captured the man going through a parked car off Beechmont Avenue on Thursday morning when a sheriff’s car passes by.

After seeing a car light go on, the deputy doubles back only to find a man walking around the home at about 5:15 a.m. Once spotted, the man flees from deputies and was able to escape, but police now have a description of the man they believe is responsible for several thefts in the area.

Police describe the man as having a tall thin build with long hair and said he tends to carry a backpack while looking for unlocked cars.

“It seems like the last couple of years we've always had issues with kids coming down the street,” Anderson Township resident Teri Surface said. “I think it's just because we're right off of Beechmont, it's easy to get in and out of and not really be seen.”

Surface said thieves went through her car months ago and it’s difficult to hear that the issue has returned to her neighborhood.

“You feel violated,” Surface said. “I mean the time my car was broken into they trashed my car and even though I didn't have anything of value it was just that feeling of ‘what next?’.”

Anyone with information on the man is asked to call the Hamilton County Sheriff’s District 5 Office at (513)-825-2280.
