INDIANAPOLIS (FOX19) - A man and woman are dead after a fatal single-vehicle crash near Indianapolis Saturday morning.
Emergency crews responded to westbound Interstate 465 near the 2.9 mile marker around 5:30 a.m., according to Indiana State Police.
Authorities pronounced the male victim dead at the scene while the critically injured female victim was transported to Eskenazi Hospital where she later died.
Witnesses say they watched the Chevrolet pickup flip multiple times before coming to a rest. Both victims were ejected from the vehicle.
Indiana State Police are investigating the cause of the crash. However, "preliminary indications" suggest the truck entered the grassy center median, and the driver over-corrected as they exited, causing the vehicle to roll several times, authorities say.
Neither individual was wearing a seat belt.
The victims have not yet been identified.
All westbound lanes of I-465 were closed for an hour before being reopened at 9 a.m.
