WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Two men are in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash in Whitewater Township Sunday.
Emergency crews responded to the 3800 block of Lawrenceburg Road at 12:14 a.m.
Berzain Ramirez, 25, was negotiating a left bound curve on Lawrenceburg Road when he allowed his vehicle to exit the right side of the roadway onto the gravel shoulder, causing the car to rotate counter clockwise. His vehicle then rotated back onto Lawrenceburg Road and across the center dividing lines into other lanes of traffic, according to authorities.
John Haeufle, 58, struck Ramirez's vehicle when it crossed into his lane of travel, causing Ramirez and his front seat passenger, Brandon Ertel, 25, to become entrapped.
Crews mechanically removed Ramirez and Ertel from their vehicle and transported the victims via Air Care to the University Medical Center.
Ramirez and Ertel are both listed in critical condition. Haeufle was treated at the scene and released.
Police say excessive speed and alcohol on the part of Ramirez are believed to have contributed to the crash.
Haeufle and Ertel were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, Ramirez was not.
The crash remains under investigation.
