CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A 30-year-old motorist is in critical condition after a crash with a Cincinnati police vehicle Monday, traffic police said.

Tyrone Mack of Winton Hills failed to control a 2004 Honda Accord traveling northbound in the 2600 block of Central Avenue, and it crossed the double yellow center lines about 11:30 a.m., according to a traffic crash report.

The Accord was struck by an oncoming, southbound marked police vehicle, a 2016 Ford Explorer, the report states.

Mack sustained life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Michael Hudepohl wrote in a prepared statement.

Mack was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The driver of the police vehicle, Sgt. Charles White, 68, went to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

He was treated and released.

Speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to Hudepohl.

It remains unknown if impairment played a role.

The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Traffic Unit: 513-352-2514.
