NORTHERN KENTUCKY (FOX19) - A Northern Kentucky man who serves our country is now a rising star overseas.
Army Captain Larry Leap Junior spent a year in Kosovo on deployment as part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's peacekeeping force "KFOR."
While trying to build positive relationships between the United States military and the people there, Captain Leap's vocal chops and love for Elvis Presley led him into the spotlight.
He sang two Elvis Presley songs with a classical student orchestra on a national TV show in Kosovo.
"It was very special and what really made it extremely special was that for the last three or four rotations they have been working with the a music school, a group of students between the ages of 16 and early 20s. The students really made it what it was," Captain Leap said.
Captain Leap also performed on a variety show there.
He said that many people they encountered there are big fans of Elvis Presley, and some people know all of the words to his songs even though they don't speak English.
