Former Bengals linebacker sentenced to 180 days in jail

BUTLER COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

Former Bengals linebacker Jerome Schaffer was sentenced to 180 days in jail Thursday after being found guilty of assault and public indecency. 

Schaffer, 26, was arrested in February after exposing himself outside of Book of Acts Tabernacle Church in Hamilton.

The La Salle grad apologized in court for his actions and will pay restitution to those involved in the incident, authorities say. He joined the Bengals practice squad in 2012 and played nine games in 2013.

 Schaffer is set to report to jail August 31.

    The person of interest in the double-murder and bank robbery in Conway on Monday is in custody. Brandon MIchael Council was arrested in Greenville, North Carolina Wednesday, along with two other people, authorities there confirmed.  Brandon Michael Council was wanted for questioning in connection with the murder of two CresCom bank employees during a bank robbery at the CresCom Bank in Conway on Monday afternoon.
