CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Excessive speed is a factor in a crash that critically injured a female juvenile Monday, according to Cincinnati Police.

Police said a 28-year-old driver lost control of her vehicle, crossed three lanes of traffic and struck a concrete barrier. It happened in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near Hopple Street around 9:30 a.m.

The driver and front seat passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The child in the back seat sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital by the Cincinnati Fire Department. She is listed in critical condition.

Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash, investigators said.

Police shut down the highway for several hours. It reopened around 12:50 p.m.

The Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation and any witnesses to this crash are asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
