Hundreds gather at NKU in solidarity with Charlottesville

FOX19 -

Hundreds of people stood together Monday night in solidarity with Charlottesville at NKU in an effort to stamp out hate and spread love.

"We just want to show that we support all of the victims of this terrible tragedy and that we are with them in spirit as you can say," Maria Barnes said.

Students said  in learning that an Ohio man was arrested in connection with the attack, that terrible incident could have happened here, but they're not afraid to speak up.

"Because I'm student body president, I felt like I was just called on to kind of speak out, bring my university together because we pride ourselves on diversity and inclusion here at NKU," Sami Dada said.

The university will keep collecting signatures on a huge banner for another week before they drive it to UVA as part of their welcome back week to let the students know NKU is with them.
