COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

Both sides of Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway are open again between Interstate 275 and Blue Rock Road after a fatal crash closed it for several hours early Tuesday, fire officials said.

Township police were out all morning investigating and reconstructing a single-vehicle crash and fire on the highway just after 2 a.m., said Colerain Township Battalion Chief Steve Conn.

"They are taking measurements on any of the tire patterns as far as skid marks and things of that nature so they can estimate speed," Conn said.

"They are going to be walking in the road, so we just can't have vehicles going past us. They have to get good, accurate measurements."

First responders were called to the highway earlier this morning when a westbound pickup truck crossed into the eastbound lanes and then ran about 100 feet off the highway and crashed, bursting into flames, Conn said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

Authorities are not sure yet of the driver's sex or identity.

The westbound lanes reopened at 7:18 a.m.

The eastbound side cleared just before 8 a.m.
