West End neighborhood to receive a community makeover

The West End neighborhood of Cincinnati is set to receive a makeover as a part of the city’s Neighborhood Enhancement Program.

The NEP aims to identify and reduce crime hot spots, along with cleaning up streets, sidewalks, and vacant lots.
“This neighborhood will see over the next six weeks a dramatic improvement in quality of life from all of these folks working together,” said Mayor John Cranley.

Residents of the West End are excited for the 90-day blitz that will revitalize the neighborhood.

“I think it’s great it something we need to do and we should have did a long time ago and we need to just keep it going,” said resident Vonnie Tawwab.

According to the city, communities selected to take part in the NEP are identified through an analysis of building code violations, vacant buildings, disorder and drug calls for police service and drug arrests, as well as incidences of graffiti, junk autos, litter and weeds.
