CARTHAGE, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati police said they are investigating separate shootings in Carthage and Winton Terrace overnight.

Both victims are expected to recover, according to police.

A 34-year-old man was shot several times in the back at 70th Street and Fairpark Avenue in Carthage about 11 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.

He was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

At least one other man who is related to the victim fired shots in what may be defense of the victim, police said.

Danny Showes, 32, was arrested in connection with the shooting. He's being held in the Hamilton County Justice Center.

Around midnight, officers said they responded to a shooting in the 4900 block of Winneste Avenue in Winton Terrace.

A 17-year-old male was found shot outside a residence, according to police.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A possible suspect, 20, fled in a beige sport utility vehicle, police said.
