Man critically hurt in Lincoln Heights shooting

A 30-year-old man is fighting for his life Wednesday morning after a shooting in Lincoln Heights overnight, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to the 1300 block of Byrd Avenue just after 10:30 p.m., said overnight sheriff's supervisor, Sgt. Robert Mai.

Residents called 911 and reported the shooting and hearing gunshots, according to recordings of the calls released early Wednesday.

"Can we get a police officer or sheriff here as soon as possible?" a woman asked an emergency dispatcher.

Deputies found Laron Irvin suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.

The victim told responding deputies he was shot by the occupants of a blue vehicle that fled the area eastbound on Byrd Avenue and southbound on Mangham Drive, sheriff's officials said.

He was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition, sheriff's officials said.

No arrests were made, Mai said.

Detectives are still working the case and conducted an interview outside the county early Wednesday.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office: 513-851-6000, or Crime Stoppers: 513-352-3040.
