FAIRMOUNT, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati Police are asking for help to find a missing adult with a mental condition.

Roy Haynes was last seen August 8 around 4 p.m. His family said he was in a truck with his uncle on Fairmount Ave., when he jumped out and walked towards the woods.

His family said he has the cognitive ability of a 3- to 5-year-old.

Police said they are concerned because he is MRDD and has a history of walking away from his home.

Searching through wooded areas has now become a part of James Tankersley's daily routine in hopes to bring his cousin home.

"It's like trying to find a needle in a haystack," he said.

His family said they were unable to catch him when he began walking towards the woods.

"My mom is distraught. She can't eat or sleep. My dad's been really upset too," said Tankersley.

He said Haynes has wandered off before, but this is the longest time that he's been away.

"He just feels a need to go for a walk and takes off and if somebody's not there to stop him immediately he's gone. He's a fast little guy," said Tankersley.

During their daily search in the woods for the past eight days they haven't found any traces of Haynes, but what they have seen makes them fear even more for his safety.

"It's full of people who don't have home or are addicted to drugs, so it's really dangerous being out in that area. We're just worried about him because he can't take care of himself at all. We don't know how he's eating or drinking. He's been gone over a week, so we're concerned about his exposure to the elements," said Tankersley.

They are asking the community to help bring Haynes back to his family.

"Help us bring him home. Pay attention. There's a lot of people out there and if you just pay attention someone will spot him. He's just a sweet kid. We need some help bringing him home," said Tankersley.

His family said that he loves coffee, so if you see him offer him a cup to keep him still then call police.

He is described as a white man, 5'10" and 165 lbs. Haynes has brown hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and gray shorts.
