COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

Authorities are searching for a driver who they say led them on a vehicle pursuit that ended with a crash into a building - and then he ran off and escaped.

The chase began in the 5200 block of Ridge Road at 12:14 a.m. Thursday, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

A deputy driving a marked sheriff's vehicle tried to stop a silver, 2016 Nissan hatchback for a moving violation, sheriff's officials said in a prepared statement.

The Nisan pulled into a business parking lot. But, as the deputy approached, the driver fled southbound in the vehicle out of the parking lot onto Ridge Road, according to the statement.

The Nissan fled until it crashed into a building at the corner of Ash Street and Norwood Avenue in Norwood.

The male driver bailed from the car and ran off.

A K-9 joined the search but was unable to pick up the suspect's trail.

No one inside the building was hurt.

The incident remains under investigation.
