CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The traffic nightmare is almost over.

Brent Spence lane closures that have led to miles-long backups, lengthy delays and frustrated motorists most of the summer are ending.

All four lanes on the upper deck of the bridge reopened ahead of schedule about 7 p.m. Sunday.

The northbound I-71/75 lanes on the lower deck of the bridge will remain closed most of this week before reopening at 5 a.m. Friday.

The following ramps also will reopen Friday:

  • I-71 / US 50 ramp to SB I-71/75 (via Ft. Washington Way)
  • Third Street ramp in Cincinnati to SB I-71/75
  • Fourth Street ramp in Covington to NB I-71/75
  • SB I-71/75 to Erlanger/KY 236 Exits 184 & 184B are closed; 184A is accessible from I-275 east and westbound

Transportation officials began closing lanes on both decks of the bridge that carries vehicles across the Ohio River between Ohio and Kentucky back in June as part of a maintenance project.
