CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign kicked off at Paul Brown Stadium Thursday.

The Hamilton County Safe Communities Coalition, Ohio Traffic Safety Office, local law enforcement agencies and community partners joined with the Cincinnati Bengals and mascot WHO DEY to promote responsible drinking.

The annual national campaign tries to deter and reduce impaired driving.

Spearheaded by the National Highway Traffic Safety (NHTSA) Administration, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” runs through September 4.

According to the NHTSA, every day, 28 people in the United States die in an alcohol-related crash—that’s one person every 51 minutes.

With the new challenges of drugged and distracted driving, AAA and local officials want to warn motorists to be vigilant—especially around sporting events as fall sports season kicks off.
