CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A Cincinnati Police officer has been taken to the hospital after being exposed to an unknown substance.

Fraternal Order of Police President, Sgt. Dan Hils, confirmed that the officer was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center on Friday.

Officials said the officer was at District 1 headquarters after executing a search warrant earlier in the day.

He was cataloging evidence, possibly heroin or fentanyl, when he began feeling light-headed, according to Sgt. Eric Franz.

Earlier this month, two CPD officers became ill after being exposed to an unknown substance during traffic stops.

We will continue to update this developing story.
