CINCINNATI -

A graduate of Cincinnati Country Day and her boyfriend have died in Aspen, Colorado after a weekend hike, according to our news partners at the Cincinnati Enquirer.

On Monday, the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call concerning two local hikers overdue on their return. Family members and members of an Aspen climbing forum, 14ers.com, also made posts asking if anyone had seen to Carlin Brightwell or Ryan Marcil.

According to police, the couple had tentative plans to return to Aspen sometime on Sunday after summiting Capitol Peak that same day. In a Facebook post, Brightwell's sister wondered if they stayed an extra night for the eclipse.

When the couple did not return, Mountain Rescue Aspen volunteers, joined by a CareFlight helicopter, were deployed on Tuesday to find Brightwell and Marcil, the sheriff's office said.

On Tuesday afternoon, a National Guard helicopter sighted the two climbers at the bottom of the north face of Capitol Peak. Rescuers were able to reach the climbers and confirmed that they were deceased.

Members of the climbing forums and The Aspen Times confirmed that the couple found was Brightwell and Marcil.

Cincinnati Country Day officials said Brightwell graduated from the school in 2008.
