HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -

The man accused of causing the drug overdose death of his 1-year-old son appeared before a judge Wednesday.

Dorrico Dewaun Brown, 33, pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter and child endangering in Butler County Common Pleas Court.

His bond was set at $500,000.

Brown was indicted last week, the same day a report from the county coroner's office showed his son, Dorrico Dawaun Brown Jr., died due to toxicity of a combination of drugs, including oxycodone.

Officials said the 1-year-old's father reportedly found the child not breathing and lying on a bed May 17.

He called 911. The toddler was taken to Fort Hamilton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

"My son is just freezing cold and I don't think he's even breathing," Brown told an emergency dispatcher, according to a recording of the call.

"He was taking a nap and I came in here and he's just cold."

Brown remains in the Butler County Jail.
