COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say con artists posing as FBI agents swindled a 90-year-old suburban Columbus man out of thousands of dollars this week, and the fake agents may have pulled similar scams elsewhere in the state.
Investigators are looking for a man and a woman.
Wearing dark suits and holsters containing handguns, the fake agents persuaded a Whitehall man to withdraw cash from his bank account to help with an undercover sting operation at a nearby bank.
Authorities say the man handed over thousands of dollars to the fake agents, who then drove off in a black sedan.
A similar case occurred Friday in Akron.
A case in Grove City is also under investigation.
Posing as an FBI agent is a federal crime punishable by up to three years in prison and a fine.
