4 C quick-cooking oats
1 C brown sugar
1/2 C shortening
1/2 C butter or margarine
1/2 C white syrup ( Karo)
1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla
1 12 oz pkg. chocolate chips
3/4 C peanut butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine oats, sugar, shortening, butter, & syrup, using a pastry blender (heavy duty mixer works well). Press mixture into a 9"x13" pan. Bake 15 mins, cool slightly. Melt chocolate chips & peanut butter. Add to melted mixture the salt & vanilla. Spread over cooled baked mixture. Cool slightly. Cut into bars. Refrigerate ENJOY!!
