University of Cincinnati officials held a closed-door meeting Thursday ahead of a threatened lawsuit by an attorney for associates of white nationalist leader Richard Spencer.

They made no comment after their session to discuss "a pending or imminent" court action.

A university spokesman said it's not clear when trustees would announce whether Spencer would be permitted to speak on campus.

Attorney Kyle Bristow wrote emails to UC and Ohio State University saying they had until Friday to agree to make campus space available for Spencer.

The Ohio universities are the latest targeted by Spencer since the August white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, that led to deadly violence.

He is scheduled to speak Oct. 19 at University of Florida, which expects to spend $500,000 on security.

UF's president and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio are urging students against attending.
