OAKLEY, OH (FOX19) -

A Christmas tradition for some Tri-State churchgoers is coming to an end.

Crossroads will stop its Christmas show “Awaited” after the 2017 performance season, senior Pastor Brian Tome announced in a YouTube video.

The show has grown into a mega-popular production over the past nine years. Crossroads holds a few dozen performances of Awaited from the Oakley location each season.

The tickets are free and are often at high-demand.

In 2014, 100,000 tickets were snapped up for 29 performances in less than 24 hours, according to our news partners at the Cincinnati Enquirer.

“For us to really be what God wants us to be, we need to have a different form of a Christmas experience that everyone at Crossroads can experience,” Tome said.

Although he did not provide specific details, Tome hinted that the church is working to develop some form of replacement for the Awaited show.
