JACKSON COUNTY, IN (FOX19) - Indiana State Police are investigating a deadly crash.

It happened US 50 at County Road 1050 West on Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators said a semi pulling a flatbed trailer, driven by Christopher McClain, 24, was traveling westbound on US 50.

A red semi pulling a box trailer, driven by Jerome Sharkey, 50, of West Chester, was traveling eastbound.

As both vehicles passed through a construction zone, the semis collided.

ISP said McClain's flatbed trailer struck the cab of Sharkey's vehicle, trapping Sharkey in his vehicle.

Sharkey died from his injuries at an Indianapolis hospital.

McClain was not hurt.

Investigators are working to determine which vehicle crossed the center line and why the crash occurred. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors but toxicology tests are pending at this time.
