COLLEGE HILL (FOX19) -

A driver is on the run after a police chase ended when his vehicle got stuck on a manhole lid in College Hill, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said they attempted to stop a vehicle after clocking it speeding 55 mph in a 35 mph zone at the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and North Bend Road.

The driver refused to pull over and led them on a chase. Speeds didn't exceed 63 mph, and the fleeing driver used turn signals and stopped a stop signs, troopers said.

The pursuit ended in the 1400 block of Ambrose Avenue when the driver tried to cut through a grassy patch and sidewalk.

The vehicle ran over and got caught on the lid to a raised manhole between two apartment buildings.

Troopers said they plan to interview the owner of the vehicle to determine if it was stolen.

They said they did not find drugs or alcohol inside of it.
