Man arrested after Middletown robbery has track record, police say

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) - Police say a Middletown man responsible for a number of area robberies is back behind bars.

An incident this week, on the 1300 block of Yankee Road in Middletown, was caught on camera. Police said it was Dimitri Hubbard, 36, who demanded money from the register.

It happened Wednesday around 5:30 p.m.

The owner, who declined to go on camera, provided surveillance video of the incident to FOX19 NOW. The owner said the offender waited for the perfect time to strike. The owner says video shows a person walking past the store before making a move was a mini van leaves the premises.

First, the owner said the offender came inside and began to walk around like he was planning on buying something. But the owner said all the offender was doing was buying time making sure the coast was clear.

The offender asked a clerk for change for a $20 bill, the owner said. The owner said the clerk obliged, but the offender wanted more.

Hubbard is accused of demanding all the money in the drawer.

Video shows the clerk hitting buttons fast in order to get the offender the cash, all while a gun is pointed at her. Once the offender has the money, he made a run for it.

Hubbard was arrested after the incident.

Middletown police said he has a track record. They said in 2003 he attempted to rob a man at a barbershop on 8th Avenue, shooting the victim in the process. They said in 2006, a victim woke to Hubbard trying to break into a home before gunfire was exchanged.

Hubbard was just released from prison in August.

This week, he is in Middletown Jail.
