WALTON, KY (FOX19) -

One truck driver is dead and another is hurt in a shooting and suicide at a truck stop Tuesday morning.

It started with "some sort of road rage incident" at the Pilot Travel Center around 9:30 a.m., according to Major Tom Scheben, spokesperson for Boone County Sheriff's Office.

Surveillance video shows the two semi trucks parked next to each other in the fuel pump area.

The victim can be seen exiting his cab and walking toward the second truck. Within seconds the victim runs for cover, apparently just after being shot.

"On-scene witnesses heard words between the two men and then shots rang out.  After shooting the victim, the perpetrator turned the gun on himself and committed suicide," Scheben said.

The 44-year-old victim was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the arm.

Authorities identified the deceased as Jeffrey Maggard, 60, of Walton, Kentucky.

Deputies are interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance video.

The Pilot Travel Center is located at 118 Richwood Rd.
