COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A local police department has a plan to thwart potential package thefts during the holidays.

Colerain Police will allow residents to have packages delivered to the police department, instead of having them left on front porches, where they are vulnerable to thieves.

Beginning Friday, November 24, 2017, residents can have packages delivered to 4200 Springdale Road, Attention: Police Department, Cincinnati, Ohio 45251.

The individual named on the package may pick-up their package with a valid, government issued photo I.D. during the following hours:

Monday - Friday, 24-hours a day

Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

The service goes through December 24, 2017.

"We want our residents to have a wonderful holiday season and hope this service makes their holidays safer and happier," stated police.
