CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A father was hurt and his 5-year-old son went to a hospital as a precaution in a crash that closed the 5200 block of River Road (U.S. 50), Cincinnati police confirmed Wednesday.

The man was conscious and talking to first responders when they extricated him and his child from a minivan about 8:30 a.m., police said.

The 5-year-old was taken in an ambulance to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center to get checked out.

The man was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

River Road has since reopened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
