A 32-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed in Florence Monday night, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Office.
First responders were called to Dixie Highway near Industrial Road about 10 p.m., according to Tom Scheben, sheriff's spokesman.
They found Nicholas Arthur of Cincinnati down in the road.
He was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence and pronounced dead, Scheben said.
A preliminary investigation determined Arthur was walking with friends when he separated from them and walked to another part of the road.
He was struck by an unknown vehicle and was lying in the road when another vehicle came along and hit him again, Scheben said.
The Boone County Sheriff's Office Reconstruction Unit is investigating.
Anyone with information on the first vehicle that struck Arthur is asked to call sheriff's officials at 859-334-2175.
