Community gathering Christmas donations for mother with terminal cancer
Star Schaefer (GoFundMe)

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Saint Bernard community is collecting cash, gift cards, and Christmas gifts for a 32-year-old single mother of four who was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Star Schaefer is a Saint Bernard graduate and was diagnosed with Anorectal Melanoma.

Doctors told her that it's terminal, and they don't really know how much time she has left. She will be getting radiation treatments once she heals from surgery.

Because of her current situation, she can no longer work. That, along with medical bills, is taking a huge toll on her finances and is making it difficult for her to care for her children.

Friends are gathering donations – money, gift cards, toys, clothes, etc. – to give to Star and her kids. Their main goal is to collect enough funds/gifts to help Star have a special Christmas with her family since it could be her last one.

People who know Star said that she is always one to offer help to anyone she can so they want to return that favor.

For those who want to donate, they are asked to contact Christina Collins via email at to set up a time to drop off the items. There is also a GoFundMe page set up for Star and her family.
