A Butler County corrections officer was fired and arrested Monday after an investigation determined she had sexual contact with at least one inmate and smuggled contraband into the jail, Sheriff Richard Jones said.
“Being a corrections officer is a noble but tough job. These men and women work hard and always have to be on their guard," Jones said in a prepared statement.
"My employees take pride in their work and strive to ensure this facility maintains a great reputation. She has tarnished that and I do not want people like that working for me."
Nakisha Newell, a corrections officer for the past 18 months, also is accused of taking a cell phone and electronic cigarettes into the jail.
