DEARBORN COUNTY, IN (FOX19) - A Dearborn County man arrested on murder and attempted murder charges was found not competent to stand trial.

In court documents released to FOX19 NOW, 55-year-old Terry W. Storey will be placed in a state facility until he is "restored," the prosecutors office said.

The documents read, "The defendant presently lacks the ability to understand the proceedings in this criminal action against him and to assist in the preparation of a defense. These criminal proceedings are stayed pending defendant's restoration to competency."

Storey was arrested in July for the death of 30-year-old Brittany Black, who was shot in the yard of her home in the 9300 block of State Route 48.

She was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Dearborn County Coroner's Office.

Her husband, 37-year-old Kyle Black, was also shot outside of the residence.

He was transported to a Cincinnati hospital where he reportedly lost part of his colon, has a damaged liver and lost a kidney.

Storey was taken into custody at his residence in the 9400 block of State Route 48, which was just west of the shooting scene.

It has not been made clear how long he will have to stay at the facility

Police have not said what led up to the shooting.
