NORWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

A Norwood couple made it to Christ Hospital just in time to deliver their new baby girl Haven - and in a roundabout way they have a police officer to thank for that.

"It's a no turn on red... but I'm screaming, 'I got to get her there.' So he hits the hazard and turns and that's when the cop pulls us over," mother Alesha Collins said.

Early Tuesday morning, Patrick Collins was rushing his wife Alesha who was in labor to Christ Hospital.

"I was hanging out the window trying to wave him on like hurry, hurry. He gets out and I said, 'my wife is in labor... man I got to go,' and he's like, 'drive safe be careful... get her to the hospital,'" he said.

Haven, 7 pounds 11 oz., came quickly joining her older siblings Zane and Brooke, who said they wanted their baby sister for Christmas.

"We got to the hospital at 1 a.m. and she was delivered at 3:12 a.m., so I mean the window was pretty close. I'm glad he didn't hold us up - things could have been a lot different," Collins said.

The Collins family sent the Norwood Police Department a picture of Haven, which they posted to their Facebook page congratulating them on their newest addition.
