Winton Woods football takes state runner-up

CANTON, OH (FOX19) - Winton Woods football took state runner-up in OHSAA Division II on Thursday night with a 42-14 loss to Akron Archbishop Hoban.

The Warriors fought back from 21-0 deficit with a 16-yard passing touchdown from Kenny Mayberry to Cornell Beachem and a 92-yard kickoff return by Raequan Prince in the first half, but couldn't keep up with a high-powered Hoban offense.

It's the first time since 2012 that the Cincinnati area will not have a state champion in Division II. Loveland and La Salle brought home state titles the previous four years.
