CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Two Cincinnati men are facing felony charges after a woman holding a child in her arms was shot in the back of the head Monday.
Hamilton County prosecutors said 20-year-old Darian McDonald went to his ex-girlfriend's apartment on Hilsun Place in Western Hills. When she refused to come out, he allegedly fired seven shots toward her home.
Cincinnati Police also arrested 18-year-old Michael Dailey in connection with the shooting. Dailey is accused of driving McDonald to the victim's house and allegedly knew McDonald had been threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend.
"She was struck in the back of the base of her skull with the one 45 caliber bullet... came out of the front of her face," a prosecutor said during McDonald's court appearance Friday.
The victim had a child in her arms and was trying to run into her apartment when shots were fired.
She is in serious condition, officials said in court. It is not clear if the child was injured in the incident.
Both men are charged with felonious assault which could cost each of them up to $15,000 and eight years in jail.
Prosecutors said McDonald was previously arrested for domestic violence. Court records indicate Dailey admitted to his involvement in the shooting
"Seven shots at the victim - striking once in the back of the head... it sounds borderline miraculous this is not a murder charge at this point," the judge about McDonald on Friday.
Both men are due back in court Dec. 26.
