Animal rescue hosting 'Santa Clause for a Cause' for man with special needs

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) – - Joseph's Legacy rescue is hosting a "Santa Clause for a Cause Pet Pictures" event on Saturday, December 23 for a man with special needs.

The president of the rescue, Meg Melampy, said the event idea came from a woman named Sarah who owns Pink Poodle Boutique in Middletown.

Sarah's boyfriend's brother, Clifford, is 33-years-old and is nonverbal and special needs. Clifford's dream and wish this year is to be Santa Clause.

To help him fulfill his dream, Sarah and Joseph's Legacy are teaming up to host a pictures with pets day on Saturday.

They are asking the community to bring their pets between four and six p.m. to see Clifford, who will be dressed up as Santa.

Pet owners are invited to take their own photos, but Joseph's Legacy is working on finding a photographer who will be able to take and send photos to people electronically.

Adoptable animals that are currently in the care of Joseph's Legacy are expected to attend the event as well as they search for their forever homes.

The rescue is looking for someone who would be willing to donate cookies and treats. They are also looking for someone who could donate hot chocolate and/or coffee for the event.

They are searching for a photographer who could help with the event as well.

The event is Saturday, December 23 from four to six p.m. at the Pink Poodle Boutique at 1601 Central Avenue in Middletown.

If you would like to attend or would like to make a donation, you can learn more about the event and about Clifford on Facebook.
