NKY Cabbie Call Leads To Bust

It's a job that a Northern Kentucky cabbie won't soon forget and not just on account of the $185 fare.

Wednesday night, Mike Wagers drove a couple suspected in the killing of a Tennessee prison guard from Erlanger, Kentucky, to Columbus, where they were captured without incident at a motel.

George and Jennifer Hyatte appeared in federal court Friday where they both opted to fight extradition to Tennessee.

Jennifer Hyatte allegedly staged a deadly ambush that allowed her husband to escape from prison in Tennessee on Tuesday. A manhunt that covered more than 300 miles for the two ended after about 25 officers surrounded their Columbus motel room.

Cab driver Wagers headed back to work Friday in part to avoid reporters, but before doing so he made an appearance on the FOX19 Morning News.
