Labor dispute at Heathrow Airport forces British Air to cancel flights in US.
The labor dispute at Heathrow Airport in London has forced British Airways to cancel all of its flights last night and this morning from John F. Kennedy airport in New York and the Newark airport in New Jersey. Most of the flights to Heathrow are in the evening. There are two flights to Heathrow from Newark and six flights from Kennedy in the evening.
A British Airways spokesman says he will not know until this afternoon how tonight's flights will be affected. The airline says every attempt has been made to place passengers on other airlines to London or other destinations beyond London.
Passengers who could not be accommodated were either sent home or put up in hotel rooms and given meal vouchers.
