CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Move over Fiona, There's a newly named baby animal in town.
The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden announced the name of their aardvark baby.
Winsol the aardvark was born on Dec. 21, and has been spending his time bonding with his mom, a 13 year old aardvark, with help from the zoo's animal care team.
Zoo officials say Winsol got his name because he was born on the winter solstice.
Winsol is the first healthy aardvark baby to be born at the zoo since 1994, zoo officials say. He weighed about three pounds at birth and doubled that amount in two weeks.
The zoo says staff members are closely supervising mom and baby interactions to make sure Ali, Winsol's mom, doesn't accidentally roll over or step on her infant.
The zoo says the care team could be in place for two or three months.
Winsol and Ali will be moved to the aardvark habitat in the Night Hunters section of the zoo once the care team is confident the baby aardvark can hold his own, zoo officials say.
The calf's father, a 23-year-old aardvark named Diggy can be seen in Night Hunters now.
If you're anxiously awaiting a glimpse of the wrinkly rascal, the zoo is holding a Facebook live Monday at 10 a.m.
