Driver killed, another critically hurt in NKY crash

INDEPENDENCE, KY (FOX19) - One driver died and a second was critically hurt in a Northern Kentucky crash overnight, Independence police said.

Peter Dance, 36, of Independence was pronounced dead at the scene of the two-vehicle collision in the 1000 block of Taylor Mill Road about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said in a prepared statement.

The other motorist, David Penn, 35, also of Independence, was airlifted to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Taylor Mill Road was shut down for several hours overnight while police investigated.

They say Dance's southbound 2009 Hyundai Sonata crossed the center and crossed into oncoming traffic, striking Penn's 2015 Scion.

Dance's vehicle then was redirected to the southbound side of the road.

The crash blocked the entire road, police said.

No charges are being filed at this time.

"Preliminary indicators are not wearing seatbelts and not under proper control." police wrote in their statement.
